Create your application maps for variable rate haulm killing in 4 steps
Previously you could already generate application maps for variable rate fertilization and irrigation. Now it is also possible to create application maps for variable rate haulm killing in potatoes.
As a grower you can simply add the dose of the haulm killing product you would normally apply and the water volume. From the satellite images you can check the greenness of the potato leaves but also make an application map whereby the dose of the haulm killing product is adapted according to the measured greenness. Zones within the field where the leaves and stems already died will get a lower dose of product compared to zones where the crop is still very green. You can download the application maps in the form of a shapefile and load it into the sprayer.
Reduced use of haulm killing products is good for the environment and saves money! Field tests in the Netherlands have shown that thanks to the use of application maps for variable rate haulm killing – depending on the situation and spraying technique – you can save 25% to 50% on the costs of the haulm killing product.
